Hello,
Good job: the problem seems to be fixed, at least here on my computer.
In fact, I downloaded the debian package provided by Jonh here above,
installed it and did a killall -9 vino-server to make sure that the new
version is running. (I had to remove vino-dbgsym in order not to have

Hello Jonh Wendell,
Your steps are roughly the same, but here is exactly what I am doing (i
hope not to forget anything):

the Remote Desktop Preferences
3) set ubuntu to automatically login into

Here are the outputs of valgrind with vino-dbgsym installed.
Like previously, launched valgrind in two ways:
1. When I launch valgrind in a terminal in the forwarded nx gnome
session, I don't get the desktop through vnc, but it tells me that the
connection has been closed by peer.

Hello,
As you know, the problem occurred while the remote headless computer
was set to automatically login into an xfce session. When I tried to
connect with vnc to what I thought was a gnome session, it did not
connect, unless a nx gnome session was also running, in which case

May be that I should clearly tell, that all this problems do not occur
when connecting with vnc; in other words when connecting to the gnome

that the issues are due to nx.)

Same behaviour here. I also prefer the old way.
I wonder why the developers changed that!? I suppose there must have
been some reason.

Hello,
Should the window of gok not always been floating?
Here is at least one way, that I am able to reproduce, by which the gok
window gets covered by a document window:
- gok is running not docked and direct selection is chosen as access
method.

I was told, that it was a duplicate of bug 42308 that can be found here:

By the way, you can find in the comments of bug 42308 a link with an
