When you open Vinagre, it doesn't start any connection. Is vinagre
opened fullscreen? I can't find how to trigger that, for me it always
opens in a normal window (not fullscreen), no matter if I close Vinagre

into Ubuntu, without interacting with the remote computer?
I've tried to reproduce copying a 1GB file to a folder, when connected
to a Hardy remote computer, and it worked fine.

Sorry for that, I think I misunderstood the issue.
Back to undecided as I'm not sure I fully understand what's going on.
I'll try to reproduce it to understand what's happening.

Another option would be to tell the port in a different parameter, say
$ vinagre --port=1000 127.0.0.1 (ipv4)
$ vinagre --port=1000 2001:0db8:0:0:0:0:1428:57ab (ipv6)
The port option could be -p / --port

I just tried it as this sounds rather important, but couldn't reproduce
it.
My setup was vino 2.24.1 running on localhost with "holalá" as password,
and connecting with vinagre 2.24.2.
Can you give us very specific steps to reproduce the issue?
