Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 10.04 password is optional during login, but when the computer wakes from hibernation password is asked for, irrespective of whether it is required during login or not. Since I don't have the suspend option, I don't know what happens during resuming from suspend

My problem is solved, but there is a problem with with serpentine's message promt. When the available disk space is very low(in my case it was only 100mb) serpentine's message prompt shows this cryptic message ! I transfered some of my files to a more spacious partition and the problem is gone. --
