I managed to fix it. I downloaded a new alacarte source package and compiled the source code myself. I can now edit any menu entry in alacarte. If anyone needs to fix alacarte in Ubuntu Lucid (alpha 1) (gnome- desktop), because you are unable to edit the entries in the gnome menu, see below. I go
