Running sudo gnome-display-properties didn't solve the problem, it just
skipped the authentication stage.

I have a System76 Lemur Ultra Thin laptop with an external HDMI monitor
connection. I'm able to plug in my HP Compaq LA2405wg monitor via a DVI to HDMI
converter and, using gnome-display-properties.
I upgraded to 11.04 from 10.04
