I may be confused here, but or you trying to upgrade from 32-bit to
64-bit? If that is true, then you need to do a fresh install of 64-bit

I used to have this same problem using Windows Live on Windows so this
is more than likely from MSN's side rather than empathy's. Do you have
this same problem when using empathy with other IM's?
