The old trick backspace button to move up is more intelligent than the
alt+arrow. But the Ubuntu dev's are more idiots than other developers
Gnu/Linux. Do disapear the old good things is not a sign of
intelligence. I have doing removing all Ubuntu os at my job for this

I did the following:
1. Start brasero with you're command ( not with the --debug argument,
because it segfaulted right away)
2. Select Burn Image and selected the disk image
3. Insert the empty disc, which is displayed and mounted on the desktop.
Brasero tells me there is no writable cd inse
I will do that when I come home from work. I have been looking for a
debug argument on brasero, but could not find it. I'll post the
results as soon as possible.

Could it be that the ntp installation does not directly add ntp support
to the running time-admin application?

if you sync your time with ntp you have to re-open "adjust date & time" option
to reflect ntp package installation

I have a brand new install of Karmic alpha 3, but my time zone crashes. This
looks like regression, because I did not have this issue on jaunty. The world
map is black with yellow dots and the list with timezones is empty. After
opening that selection list, time-admin crashes.
