I just got a huge technical documentation from work, it weights 600MB and is
divided into many chapters and sections. But instead of being a single huge PDF
file, it is split in many individual (1,075) smaller PDF files, one for each
section and sub-section. In the ind
I don't use Gnome any more, I have lost interest in it over time (now
using XFCE), lets just close this bug and call it done Ubuntu
doesn't even use Gnome any more anyway, so I doubt they care the
slightest about such a minor issue.

Just switched from Ubuntu 9.04 to 10.10, I notice that the simple GUI to
adjust volumes has disappeared, now we have to use the full blown,
tabbed sound preferences UI in order to adjust volumes, what a bloat :-(

that I am not using any network share. I do have an NFS server setup in
Nautilus, but it is not mounted.
VirtualBox runs Windows XP but there is only one application running in

I also have this problem ! I am running Ubuntu (vanilla/Gnome) 9.04.
The problem only appeared 3 days ago though, and from reading the above
comments it seems I have the same context:
- leaving the computer running 24/7
- I did started a Virtualbox session a few days ago and it's been running 24
Oh, how nice... it works on Jaunty (hopping it won't break by the time
it gets to final release, though ! ;-)

I installed Intrepid in Virtualbox. Ubuntu automatically set up GDM to
log me in automatically after 10 seconds.
Problem: GDM actually logs-in one second too soon, that is, when the
count down has reached "2", and is just about to switch to "1".

Hi,
I have problems trying to get Nautilus to connect to a particular FTP server.
I actually use two different FTP accounts/servers, Nautilus works perfectly
with one of them, but for some reason it always fails to connect to the second
server
I don't think the lack of support is considered a "feature", otherwise we would
have told so, and the bug would have been rejected.
So assuming the devs consider it as valid, I guess it will get fixed one day !

epiphany-gecko crashed with SIGS
Yes, the patch to reduce CPU resources was not successful in my case
(uses 50% CPU then slowly progresses up to 100%, over a period of on
eminute or so), but a nice side effect is that the graphs now scroll
smoothly, cool ! :-)
So, this bug can be closed :-)

but the problem is that Nautilus doesn't pick it up, it doesn't display

It lists my /boot partition, even though I did not mount it (It's a left
over from when I experimented having a dedicated /boot partition... but
I don't use it anymore, now I just leave /boot on the root partition).

I did buy the documentaries on a physical DVD medium, but I made an ISO
file from it, precisely so as to be able to read it from the hard disk,
which I find mch more convenient than using the actual DVD/disc.

So I installed Totem-xine (including the "w32codecs" package), but it still
fails to play DVD ISO images from the hard disk. It complains that there is "no
plugin to handle this movie".

Well, I gave hardy another try in the end.
Result: nothing has changed : the file chooser recognizes the local ISO file as
"supported" type, but it fails to play it, complaining that it "Could not
determine type of stream".

Yes, I too can confirm that in 2 years, each and every Ubuntu version,
stable or alpha, has never stopped to show weird hex codes. So indeed,
seeing the bug status as "invalid", is weird at best. Should be

Please read the bug report... it clearly states that the missing dependency
will NOT be installed, because it takes up huge space, which is not available
on the Install CD.
HOWEVER it is also missing on the DVD AFAICR, despite there is obviously
plenty of space available on the DVD !

better to hack the auto-completetion mechanism to special case gksu[do]
IMHO, or, better improve it so that auto-completion works on all

Ahhh, indeed I had 3 desktop entries in my home directory, for some reason.
I deleted them and restarted Gnome, now I do get the Python warning for the
hp-toolbox. Next step: display hp-toolbox itself, rather than a warning ! ;o)
