I tested on my current system with Oneicic Ocelot and cannot reproduce it
anymore.
So I guess it can be considered fixed (for me).

Actually this only happens when in a group chat, then turning status to
offline and then online again.

When joining a jabber group chat with history enabled, I get notices for
each message from history as if they were new messages.
I am logged in to the jabber group chat with my gmail account.
