Running "showkey -s" and then pressing Fn+F3 gave me "0xe0 0x71".
Then I just waited the 10 seconds for the program to finish.
When I returned to X, I ran xev just to make sure that infinite loop
wasn't running on background. Apparently, it wasn't.

Ok, after confirming that my hal-info is up-to-date and rebooting to be even
more sure, I can safely say that the problem is not yet fixed for me.

Something is wrong... I'm experiencing the white screen when resuming
from suspend or hibernate (Vostro 1400 with GeForce 8400M GS), but I'm
using compiz from the git repositories, which supposedbly does not have
the problematic patch. So why am I experiencing it?

Not consistent for my Vostro 1400 either.
Furthermore, my current settings is 100% on ac and 50% on battery.
However, if I unplug the cable and plug it again, it goes to 50% like it
should on battery but then it goes back to 94% instead of 100%. Which
means that, even in terms of relative calculat

1) Executing /etc/acpi/video_brightnessdown.sh or
/etc/acpi/video_brightnessup.sh changes the brightness just one step,
but tweaking those scripts, or even deleting them, has no effect in the
