Yes I believe it was fixed after poppler .12.4. I compiled .13.3 and
it worked fine. Interestingly though it was fixed on my Debian box
after 5.0.5 update (I guess they backported the fix) to the version of
poppler in Lenny (.8.7)

Is your ppa still active? I tried to add it to another computer
today and I get this message:
W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net lucid Release: The following

When I added the ppa,
There was an update to poppler this moning from the repositories, but
that did not fix the problem.

This issue is NOT fixed in the latest release of poppler available in
the repositories (I just updated it today---still the same problem)
But the good news is that Ben Bordwell was nice enough to make a PPA
with the package that does fix this issue.

I had this same trouble in Jaunty. At my job we get sent these pdf
documents that don't seem to work in evince. They work fine with adobe
