Changing the password to the same password, but in a different case,
causes the Change Password window to lock up.
for example:
Old password: password
New Password: PASSWORD
will reproduce the bug.

If I open a terminal window running inside of X and issue sudo
/etc/init.d/gdm stop, I get a black screen with a cursor blinking and I
have to reboot the machine instead of getting the expected bash prompt.
I also tried killing the GDM process and it yielded the same results.
