I have tested and the same bug, but I found something interesting:
I leave empty password but change it with the command "passwd", and can
continue login without the password, after reboot too.
(The /etc/shadow has a hash entry but gdm ingnore it).

When I close rhythmbox, and next open it again, it exit without error. Second
time I open it, load ok.
Testing it, I close the program, and instantly after, launch gdb session and I
get:

that maybe it's not the same original bug reporter bug.
When I close rhythmbox and open it again (1 second after), it crash:

Places->"Recent Documents". A mouse over show: "smb://machine/share/file.odt",
but it open with fileroller.

and I think that don't work with any es_*.UTF8 locale.
Looking the key /apps/panel/applets/applet_0/prefs/format, it change to

home
if you have two partitions and your home is /home/user:
/dev/sda1 mounted and /home
/dev/sda2 mounted and /
Then files in /home/user/music:
