The above bug seems to be solved or at least mitigated a bit. With just
having firefox up the CPU usage of gnome-shell is between 2-5%.
Gnome shell is still much less performant than Unity though, by moving
windows, open Activities or dragging the mouse over the dock its CPU
usage quickly jumps to

In Unity it's still triggered by the mouse when placing it near the edge of
the screen. I don't know how many pixels is used but I have never felt that
it has been hard to trigger it.

Now I don't know the code of neither Unity nor Gnome and it may well be

I realized that this is only when I have the dock set to auto hide. With
always visible it's possible to move the cursor to the other screen
without issues.

I don't know if it's the correct name. But the cursor "sticks" on the
edge between the monitors. It should move just like it does when I drag
it on a single monitor.

I have installed Ubuntu on several computers the last years, and I have
experienced this bug in most of the installations. So annoying: Why not
just make the window 2px bigger to fit the image on 100%.

When I start Nautilus in my home folder after start-up, it uses 100% cpu
and greys out for +5 seconds. This used to be almost instantaneous. I've
tried with a new user, and have the same problem.

copied/moved. The weird part is that the icon being draged does not
spring back to the origin like a normal "failed" drag would, but just

"Open with other application" (Mit anderer Anwendung öffnen). W
I see this problem in 11.10 on Thinkpad X60.
When i open alsamixer and switch to "Thinkpad Console Audio Control"
sound card it can see that the buttons work.

I agree with Colin Law that this is just bad UI design, the text says to
click the row you want to change - but actually you need to click the
actual shortcut.
Clicking the name column of the row does not do anything so just make it
do the same as clicking the shortcut column.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10. The version of gedit is 2.24.2.
When using the keyboard short cut to open a file, ctrl+o, the window for
selecting a file to open is cramped and has to be resized before it can
actually be used. When selecting 'file->open...'
I have a program running in the background "adeona-client.exe" and when
I kill that program I can shutdown and restart without typing my
password. So I guess this isn't a bug - sorry.
