starting up computer gnome-applet fails to load. In this instance the
weather applet crashed prompting a modal box asking if applet should be
deleted from gnome-panel.

I receive same error on ASUS N53JF using 11.04 AMD64, clean install. The
panel at top right corner no longer loads.
That error occurs when choosing ubuntu classic at login. Problem doesn't
seem to appear if Unity GUI loaded.
At first glance doesn't appear to be related to bug #716714.

During system bootup, after restart, received error message hal failed
to initialize.
Event: System bootup finished, plugged in LG 1gb usb flash drive,
complete system freeze.

I've installed debug packages as requested. Attempted to recreate error
without result.
I'm continually applying updates as they become available. Perhaps the
issue is resolved.
