I stumbled on a fix and increased the systems inotyfy watches by entering the
following line to /etc/sysctl.conf: fs.inotify.max_user_watches = 262144 .
I believe the default value is about 8000, and the above mentioned increase,
with a slim increase in memory usage, cured all problems. The main

When i filed the bug I overlooked one important descriptor:
The dropping only occurs (occasionally) with NTFS share, never with
native linux file systems (in my case xfs and ext4) which shares are
working perfectly.
