Perodically, the Gnome-panel 'locks up'.
The main culprit seem to be clicking on the 'clock' applet.
- Clock 'hightlights' but dropdown calender doesn't appear.

- Menu's don't display
- Audio control still works
- Widgets still get 'events'.
To fix:
$ killall gnome-pan
I can confirm in Hardy...
1) Create 'untitled file' on desktop with nautilus.
2) Rename to '.test'
After a short delay.. 'untitled file' is now called '.test', and appears
in the directory listing in nautilus, and on the desktop (as '.test').
3) Toggling the 'show hidden' option (show hidden/hid
Sorry.. I don't understand or see what the "GtkRange artifacts" are in
the screen shot that you indicated.
I am looking a the same dialog in Gimp 2.4.5 (in Ubuntu 8.04) and I
can't see any significant difference, so I'm probably missing something.

- When you single click, does the calender pop and show you 'todays
date' highlighted? (or is it the next day)
- Which timezone are you in? (See - adjust date & time)
