It's a huge regression for me. I hate to use Windows because I cannot
change volume with mouse wheel. It's a feature that I use and I
recommend that for several years.
Due to regression, I think this ticket must be a BUG and not in
whislist.

you should install the libpam-gnome-keyring package and log you again by gdm.
It would ask you your gnome-keyring password and propose to remind the password.
