I can confirm this too. For me the behaviour started when editing a
recurring appointment in a local calendar. I changed the appointment
from one local calendar to another which hung Evolution on save. It
would then hang on start-up, was defaulting to calendar view. But can be

I can confirm this behaviour on Ubuntu 8.10 amd64.
Disabling the the file browser plane plugin resolves the issue.
My assumption is that the plugin "hangs" looking for a removed file or
network file.
