On Ubuntu (3d), gedit cannot close using the X button. However, other
applications do close with the X button.
On Ubuntu 2D, gedit works fine, but it does not start form the launcher,
so a file must be used to open gedit.

When gedit is open, the only way to close it is by going to the menu and
choosing quit. Clicking on the X button on the top of the window does
not close gedit.

Metacity crashes after you click the Connect button on XChat, when using
Unity 2D. I haven't tested on 3D to see if it crashes when using XChat.
I have noticed that after a number of crashes in the same session,
Metacity does not start after the crash.
