I'm not having that same problem, and I was able to select multiple
files in a tar.gz file. I'm on file roller 3.2.1.
Which version of file roller and ubuntu are you using? And what type of
file are you trying to open?

If you wish to change your group layout, I would suggest doing it in
facebook, or google talk, or whatever other service you use, then it
will show up in empathy that way.

It seems to pull the group memberships from the chat service each time
empathy is opened. For example, if you have a group setup in your
facebook contacts, then each time you open empathy, the members of that
group will be listed in that group, even if you changed it last time you
were in empathy.

I can see that the icons don't show as side-by-side when the nautilus
screen is big enough (maximized, in my case), and the icon size is set
to 400%. All other sizes seem to show icons side-by-side as expected.

It seems that they have removed the themes from the appearance tool, and
instead this is possible through gnome-tweak-tool. Be careful when
adding themes though, as they may not work correctly with Unity.
