I had no problem running Balena Etcher on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
Do you have the latest version of Etcher?

Also I noticed that there is a new package snapd-xdg-open. It wasn't

package I still only got errors.

So in Xenial Nautilus remembers some of its view settings but
unfortunately not all.
Canonical already patches this particular program so could we finally
get what is considered by most a sane and expected behaviour of every
file manager in the universe.

However this patch doesn't work for point #2. So when you run gedit as

Nick and others affected by this bug today landed fixes for several bugs

@Nick your bug is different. I don't get a second lock off the screen
after unlocking.
In this case the screen doesn't blank off at locked screen and when I
unlock it after the normal timeout it goes to blank off mode.
The turning off the screen happens even if I used my mouse or keyboard.

@Rocko Marco Trevisan is a Unity developer so he knows what he's doing.
This apparently means that the bug is in gnome-screensaver.

Yes this bug was always present in Nautilus and I also think that it
isn't important.
@Daniel: You don't have to install Trusty. Live CD will suffice and you
can use grml-rescueboot which creates an entry in GRUB for booting

I assume that you were testing this in VirtualBox (daniel@daniel-vbox)
so I also checked what will happen when running in virtual machine. In
VirtualBox I couldn't close Nemo with type-ahead entry open.
I don't know why in my real Ubuntu install it works but in

It is also worth noting that Nemo 1.8.4 that is available in Trusty

The packages from the "Modifier-only input switch" PPA work very well in

The 'CTRL+T' shortcut still opens new tab and makes it very confusing
