I "killall nexcloud" and restart as per comment #3 above and icon reappear,

I've experienced it myself. It can be easily replicated using a remote shell to
launch gnome-session in an Xvfb display:
Xvfb -ac :100 2> Xvfb.log &

gnome-session --session=ubuntu
After that, gdm crashed. I had gdm debug
I feel so sorry, but I did NOT continue with 20.04 - Focal Fossa, yet
downgraded to 18.04 via backup.
I couldn't even find out, where GnomeTweaks > Fonts is because EVERY SYSTEM
FONT was unreadable. I won't try to upgrade this machine furthermore. Please,

lubuntu-desktop. I cannot use "Ubuntu Wayland" because libreoffice

Oddly enough, copying ~/huge_file to the same remote samba share _with
Nautilus_ maxes out the wire too.
So it appears to be an issue with cp and gvfs.

I have experienced this bug on two Ubuntu desktop 12.04.5 x64 systems, copying
to a debian 7 / samba 3.6 share.
I haven't tried other OS versions though.
Steps to reproduce:
Open remote share so it gets gvfs-mounted under ~/.gvfs
cd ~
cd .gvfs/path/to/remote/samba/share
cp ~/huge_file .
Speed:
Rotating the wrongly displayed photo in shotwell does not solve the
problem.

process starts eating 100% CPU, basically freezing itself.

I see this behaviour on one of our 10.04.4 x86 clients. The share is
located on a windows 2000 ad controller. The bug shows itself when
single-clicking on the windows share bookmark.
Sometimes just waiting a few seconds and then clicking again on the
bookmark makes the connection work.

Old bug, I know, but... Just tried to reproduce it on 10.04.4 LTS x64.
I didn't manage to reproduce it.
IME this bug should be closed and marked fixed.

DVD-R with the following options:
burn on the fly: NOT checked
leave the disk open: NOT checked
use burnproof: yes
simulate before writing: yes

I can confirm this bug on 11.10 x64. I have just burned a DVD with 613 JPGs
onit. Burning options were: write directly on disk (no intermediate image), use
burnproof, DVD speed 3x, leave the disk open.
It completed the burning succesfully (apparently), then it started calculating
the disk checks
Forgot to add... Brasero 3.2.0, 64 bit.

Same problem here and it is related to menu cache file
(/usr/share/applications/desktop.${LANG}.cache).
When a new package is installed using dpkg, the latter calls /usr/share
/gnome-menus/update-gnome-menus-cache script which updates the cache
file and the menu item is displayed without problems.

Having the same problem on Hardy, I wrote a tiny perl script which
listen to session state change events and executes 'nvidia-settings -l'
every time the session is activated. I made Gnome start (and stop) the
script adding an item for it in System->Preferences->Sessions.
