Finally after many tests, it seems that the trouble is on the kernel side...
If I start Grub with kernel 2.6.32-25-generic instead of the 2.6.35-22-generic
(used per default with Ubuntu 10.10),
all seems to work perfectly again!
The trouble with the new kernel, that I can see with the seconds in
Strange thing seen,
if I get pushed the 'a' key in the gnome terminal,
when I move mouse at the same time, the 'a' character is added in loop faster
(normally perhaps?) !!!
(without moving the mouse, it's jerky...)

I've disabled all effects in the desktop,
and I've finally understand that's not only a terminal problem (same thing with
terminator), but all Ubuntu seems to freeze...
It's as if the computer is put in sleep mode,
I've set the clock bar to have the seconds displayed (hh:mm:ss), and when I
