I have a 12.04 Macbook Air with the same issue. This bug is a duplicate
of bug #964299 but I'll close that since the discussion seems to be

Jeremy, that's certainly a workaround but I'm not sure it means
disabling the menu bar option is working correctly. Currently it
basically has no effect.

This is not fixed in Precise 12.04. Confirmed still broken which makes
keyboard shortcuts like "alt+B" not go "back by word" like it should if
the app-menu wasn't stealing the keys.

I still have the same problem actually. The screensaver only works once
per session.
No errors were available in /var/log/(messages|syslog), /var/crash, or
dmesg. I suspect it's not crashing since the process is persisting. Is
there any other way I can get debug info on this?

reboot before coming to report the bug and now it seems to be working.
