I can confirm that removing the USB reciever and replacing it on a
Microsoft Wireless 6000 fixes the issue. The scroll rate is 10 times
faster before doing this fix.

As Andrew suggested I used "killall gnome-volume-control"
After that I can use "gnome-volume-control" to start it again.
I'm going to wipe and reload with Alpha 3 (coming today I believe) this
weekend. I'll report back on the status then.

Thanks for the response but where would I then find the system sound
settings and volume control panel? The Volume Control button from the
speaker doesn't work. I attached a screen shot of my preferences menu.
In terminal gnome-volume-control returns "** (gnome-volume-
control:6684): WARNING **:

gnome-control-center is installed and re-installation does not resolve
the issue.
This was a clean install created from a fresh 8.10 installation using
the "update-manager -d" command.
