Turns out this is due to rhythmbox not being able to tell the length of
quite a lot of my songs, which is due to the MP3s instead of rhythmbox
itself.

I can't reproduce this here, with 0.13.1-0ubuntu4, which I notice is a
few revisions ahead of your version. Try upgrading and see if that fixes
it?

I suppose this behaviour is because it makes intuitive sense to think of
next as going top to bottom. If you want next to go to a newer message,
just order them the other way around.

my Maverick install.

The slider used to indicate position in the song, and skip to a
different position in the song, is not working. It stays on the left,
and does not respond to clicks. The small text box on the right, just
above it, that shows position in the song
I think that we need some more information. I'm wondering what
application you're trying to use, are you sure it's not specific to that
application?
