This sounds like the same keymap issues that were experienced with an
older version. It may be that the solution that was implemented to
solve those issues may not resolve this issue or may be aggravating it.
I believe this stems out of the new evdev input system that is in use in
newer desktops.
I encounter a similar bug.
For me, Nautilus often requires a refresh before new files/folders show up.
This appears to happen only if the files/folders are created by an
external program (creating a file/folder in Nautilus correctly triggers
a refresh of the view).

Completely up-to-date Karmic install, same bug.

I'm not sure if it is related, but I have noticed that certain apps that
pass keypresses (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) to a sub program like virt-manager are
still broken even if the keymap is right inside KDE. This works on the
console just fine, just not within FreeNX.

the Kubuntu variant and all my computers run Jaunty (except for my server which

Ok, it was reported in February, now it is well into May, Jaunty has
been released already. Has anyone even tried to fix this? I think the
about:config workaround above does seem to fix it for Firefox, but is
there a reason why we shouldn't just force that as a default or if that
isn't feasible t

The dimming problem doesn't occur if 'Dim display when idle' option is
deselected (along with the 'Reduce backlight brightness' setting). Would
suggest power manager is watching for activity but not seeing any for
some reason ??
