I don't know about the default handler, but if it's a firefox bug it's
too late to fix it now (if at all) for dapper, and it may be used by
other apps too.
if it's a GNOME private thing it should not be used by non-gnome apps.
If they use it and rely on it there may be no other way for apps other

If thunar can handle that, and the user installed thunar, is it surprising that
is does that? From what I know, apps can say what they handle and that's it.
Policy is decided by the user, or the sysadmin who modifies the system wide
settings of these associsations. So I still don't think thunar
heh we just packaged gnumeric-gtk, have no idea what's inside ;)

plugins are installed in xubuntu-desktop now. I am not sure what to do with
this bug report as it is not just xubuntu related.

oh, so this is the reason abiword just hangs and chews CPU even after closed if
told to open an ODF :)
changing the seeds now, and will upload a new xubuntu-meta with it.

what about depending on a virtual ubuntu-gdm-artwork package only, which the
current deps are made to provide. Then 3rd parties can add their own artwork
packages
(Not that the current artwork is too big at 5-6 Megs, but may be a more
flexible solution for
long term)

Rigth, it is a feature request not a bug. I came across it when looking at
hwdb-client which depends on canvas.
The way it is now it also installs all the gnome libraries which it does not
use.
Canvas will have to be moved
