Work around that works:
Install the package xarchiver.
Then go to File Manager's (PCManFM) Preferences->Advanced->Archiver
integration, and select "xarchiver".

I experience the same issues in my Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 installation.
Didn't have any issue with Xubuntu 11.10 32-bit, that I used previously.

I do not think this bug is related to that fix.

There is still an issue under 10.04 x64.
I have not a 10.10 installation in this laptop, however I just tested

telepathy-butterfly runs for a very short time before Empathy fails, and
I don't have enough time to find its PID so as to kill it.
Since I am not much experienced with Linux, is there any way to kill it
by its process name?

A quick fix is this:
"Remove telepathy-butterfly and you should just have telepathy-haze installed".
It works under Ubuntu 9.10, I suppose it works in 10.04 too.

I have no problem opening a new bug, however Launchpad by default
"prompts" one to subscribe to an existing bug report, if that bug report

This bug is the same. Should I open a new bug report?
Thanks.

There is the same issue with Empathy and MSN in Ubuntu 9.10.
This is a major issue, since MSN is one of the largest (I think the
largest) IM network, and Empathy is the default client. I think this can
be a bad first impression for new Ubuntu users.
Needs to be fixed now, or

In my system, sticky notes lose their data from time to time, for no
apparent reason.
In particular, I create one sticky note with some data, I lock it, and
some day it appears empty.
It happens both in a plain ext3 installation, and in an encrypted disk
installation.
