The demo program works as expected on Solaris 8, with Python 2.5.1 and
(probably) pygtk 2.10. So it's not a programmer error. Remains to see if
the error is in pygtk or in gtk.

OK, I've told them. But the bug was marked as obsolete, when I had only tested
with pygtk 2.13. I don't feel confident that this is not a programmer error, as
I am a beginner with gtk programming, and only a python hobbyist. But my demo
program is fairly simple. Everything that happens, happens
I have now tried in Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty), and the problem remains.

The problem seems to be related to the user account. I created a separate test
account on my laptop in order to test this bug. No problems on that account. My
emacs is GNU Emacs 22.2.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.14.1)
of 2008-09-05 on vernadsky, modified by Ubuntu. The package is emacs22
I have the same problem. For me, it appeared when I upgraded Ubuntu to
8.10 about a week ago. I can move the window using the mouse. I can
change focus using the mouse. I cannot resize the window, nor change
