I can also confimrm the behaviour described by arturj in comment 104. For me as
well raising the critical action threshold to at least 360 seconds was working
as a workaround in ubuntu 8.04.

I can confirm that on my ubuntu 8.10 up-to-date the size of the save as
windows always revert to a too small size. Any size change is forgotten.
It seems to appen with all the gtk applications (epiphany, evolution...)

I am reopening it as it is still and issue for me on a dell m1330 (both
with ubuntu 8.04 x64 up-to-date and intrepid live alpha 3) with intel
integrated graphics. Actually, the all brightness management is a bit
broken, but here I report only about the issue when dimming on battery

hi Sebastien, I'm not sure your question was directed to me, but both
clicking on the txt and invoking gedit from cli resulted in the same
issue. The only thing that matters, in my case at least, is the window
border theme.

The issue actually got worse since the latest updates (I mean in the last few
days). Now every Fn+Key input scale brightness by 4 levels.
Here is the updated lshal.log. Again, the log is the result of pressing once
Fn+Down and then pressing once Fn+Up in hardy up-to-date on my dell m1330.

I was using Synaptic and what I found confusing is this:
If you select gnumeric-gtk, under its 'Mark Suggested for Installation'
you find gnumeric-plugin-extra. But when you select gnumeric-plugin-
extra, gnumeric-gdk gets either unselected or removed for gnumeric.

It could be interesting to note that, at least in the case of vaio laptops,
