The issue disappeared after uninstalling the gnome-menus package.

Tested on Dell Precission 5520 with Ubuntu 18.04. This suffer from a
consistently high power usage in the Intel (Power saving) mode.
Proposed Packages install fine. After reboot switching Prime profile did
not seem applied with logout+login. Reboot was required. After a further
'apt upgrade' which
I see this same behaviour on 2 machines with 18.04 when I have no swap.
With swap enable the problem goes away. Bug did not exist in 17.10 or I
believe until quite late in the 18.04 development cycle.

I created a new account and logged into GNOME on Wayland and now GNOME
Terminal looked and behaved correctly and did not have the ugly drop
shadow issue.
After using dconf-editor to recursively reset the configuration for
/org/gnome/terminal/ this issue disappeared for me on my normal user
account
I am using Intel graphics driver on a Haswell 4770K GPU.
Note however that GNOME Terminal is the only application which have the drop
shadow issue, in the screenshot you can also see GNOME Calculator which does
not suffer from this.
I also tested with other applications and its only GNOME Termin
In my screenshot I was using Weston with the Adwaita theme.
I'll try to reproduce with a new user on "GNOME on Wayland" session once
I get home.

When picking GNOME on Wayland as session and attempting to login from
LightDM then it fails, all you see is a black screen with a blinking
cursor.
However, manually running:
$ dbus-run-session gnome-shell --display-server --wayland
from the console/vt1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1) seems to
evince works for me when running GNOME on Wayland too.
But when I run under Weston then it says "Failed to connect to Mir:
Failed to connect to server socket: No such file or directory".

gnome-session-flashback (Flashback) which runs with Compiz starts Unity instead.
It works very well with Metacity, but if you use Compiz, then you get a

Uhm, I just logged in and this error report dialog came up.
I didn't really do or expect anything.
It worked though, I didn't do anything weird.
All that happens is that I got an error report dialog when I logged in, for no
