Click on the cog wheel icon, there are three options, Gnome + Remmina
Kiosk, Ubuntu and Ubuntu on Wayland. And Ubuntu is selected by default.
Next after login, there is nothing on the screen, as in blank / black.
Except the mouse pointer.

Title:
[nouveau][conroe] No Gn
Sorry i wasn't clear about that. I am able to login with gdm3 with user
frans as expected. But next i am getting a Desktop without any Gnome
controls. I still can move the mouse over two screens. But even clicking
on the mouse buttons, doesn't show up any menu, to open up a terminal
for example.

Okay, tell me. How do i fire up a graphical terminal on a Desktop
without Gnome controls? There is nothing on my screen now. I have access
to the computer by ssh, truth.

I can confirm the bug is NOT fixed for me:
1. ubuntu-artwork is installed
2. empathy is or is not installed
3. evince and gcalctool both NOT work
