I have independent confirmation and have checked myself that the bug
does NOT happen in Ubuntu Hardy. The GNOME Panel in Ubuntu Hardy honors
the preferred terminal.
I have tested with a clean virtual machine with a Karmic live CD and the
bug still happens so this is definitely related to my config

remix but the source code I have examined doesn't make me believe the
bug is specific to Karmic or the netbook remix in any ways.

The patch has been applied upstream for GNOME 2.14.1, which just arrived
tonight. gnome-control-center_2.14.1 fixes the problem for me :)

on control-center source package. I think it is simpler than using the

I think it's obvious that the patch should be applied. I think it's
better to have a patch that works for some people than no patch at all,
which will work for nobody having the problem...
