In Receiving Options I had Use Custom Command to Contect to Server
checked and the field contained ssh -C -l %u %h exec /usr/sbin/imapd.
If I uncheck this, evolution appears to work.

This is happening at home for me--no proxy. I've tried clearing local
configuration files to no avail. I've also turned off its password
memory and not gotten a password prompt.
xsession.errors says:

Tacking on to the last rant, normally when a bug has already been
reported it is marked as a duplicate. I searched for this before
posting and I've seen bugs reported as duplicates improperly in the past
so where is the duplicate so I can confirm?
