Rhythmox crashes if it is running and I'm trying to attach a Creative

Confirmed, however, alt+f2 works for me. The panel is just "invisible"
before first mouse click.

When gnome starts, the panel is invisible - i.e., only desktop wallpaper
with icons on it is shown. However, menu appears after any click on the
desktop. If you click on the place where the menu should be, it
correctly handles the click - appe
