Thanks Daniele, I think you're right: in the last 12 hours I performed
long tests with smartctl on Linux and HDDScan on Windows and got the
exact same results. It's a real bummer though, I bought the drive 10
months ago...

Still present in Karmic final too. Is it still a bug when you're so used
to it that it feels like this is the way it's supposed to work? ;-)

Same here on my fresh Karmic installation (x86_64), using a Seagate
Barracuda ST31500341AS. I also tried the 32 bit version of Karmic and
got the the same results.
