Whoopee! Finally fixed in Evolution 3.2 in Ubuntu 11.10.
And reference my my wondering above in #6: "The nuisance part of that is
that all my calendar, contacts, and so on and so forth would need
migrating if I opted to go the Thunderbird way. Let alone what happens
to syncing contacts via Ubuntu
This facility is FINALLY found again in Evolution 3.2 in Ubuntu 11.10.

Yup, I quite agree. The fact that this continues to be on the "too hard" list
may be one of the reasons that Thunderbird is apparently the default email
client Ubuntu 11.10.

Works for me on my netbook, but stubbornly refuses to happen on the
desktop. I have no idea what the difference is (yet!)

But if you really DO have to save a picture (reasonably) quickly:
- View the message source, select all, paste into a text editor, save the file.
- Install xdeview from the repos: I suggest you use Synaptic, because it didn't
install when I used the Software Centre.
- Open the text file with xdev
It is still an issue with Evolution 2.32.2 and Natty (both on 32 and 64
bit machines, and has been an issue for a way long time.
The only way I have found to save them is to copy the source and then
decode them with another app: way too much trouble.
This is an Evolution problem, not an Ubuntu on
No difference: nothing happens unless Evolution is running, when
clicking "Send" in the Send to dialog will bring Evolution into focus.
No new email is created. (Dell C521, 11.04 AMD 64)

Send to Email is missing on Natty
Shortly after posting the above, and closing down the computer, I found, on
rebooting that I had the famous ".dmrc file being ignored" pop-up.
Attempting to fix that via the terminal, I must have entered a typo when
recursively changing the mode and ownership of my home partition, and lost

Last night Evolution was working fine, this morning, without having changed
anything, it crashes with a sefault if I try to use the button at the bottom of
the sidebar to switch to the calendar. (Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64, Evolution 2.24.1).

I am having a similar problem: newly installed ubuntu 8.10 alpha amd64. As soon
as I start typing in the body of a new message either the composer window and
the main Evolution window go grey and freeze, requiring me to force quit, or
(more often) the app crashes and vanishes.
