In Oneiric (11.10) there's no indicator-applet, so that "weak" keyboard
indicator is provided by "Notification Area" applet.
Notification area seems to be provided by "gnome-panel" package
("libnotification-area-applet.so" shared library):

2) if you add the "Indicator Applet Complete", it'll show a keyboard icon with

As for now, File Roller 3.2.1 puts its temp files not in folders like
'~/.fr-a1b2c3', but in '~/.cache/.fr-a1b2c3', so I've reported that as

alexey-baskinov, "gnome-pannel --replace &" is the official way of reloading
the panel when it disappears, loses applets etc.
It's not as violent as killing that process, but still is an overkill when all
is needed is to redraw the panel itself.
Thus, VT switching seems to be the best workaround
skliarie, I've reported that issue with 11.10 as bug #883698.
