Things are working as of today! (And working fast, too!) Not sure what
did the trick - I haven't tried in a while.

Not fixed, it turns out. (Thanks for reminding me to check - I'd gone
back to Karmic.)
I resume to a blank screen, the backlight cycles on, off, and on again,
and then I get a dialog letting me know that ubuntu is running in low

That patched kernel seems to do the trick, though other things are a
little funky right now (the dialog on resume waits forever to confirm my
password, and trying to cheat by switching users, which used to take me
to gdm, now strands me at a blank screen - but these seem like separate
bugs). The cu

Since upgrading to Lucid a week ago, resuming by opening the lid leaves

I think that there is a misunderstanding here. Chrome does put the tabs
in the titlebar, on Windows always, and optionally on Linux. (It also
eliminates the menu bar.) So I'm confirming this.
There seems to be discussion of this in relation to the switch from Metacity to

Should have tried this first - fixable by either adding the videoram
related lines to the xorg.conf, or by switching from i810 to intel.

Restarting doesn't make songs show up reliably - I'm not sure what does.
They seem to trickle in, first a few tracks from an album, then more,
then the rest. The songs that won't import also won't play in rhythmbox
from the context menu in nautilus, but they'll open in totem or play in

That's how I understood it, but I'm the opposite of an expert. Running
compiz or beryl in feisty, the logout fade is simply gone, though the
same old choppy fade is still used for gksudo.

Suspend isn't working for me in Feisty, but in Edgy I always suspended
using the logout menu. I noticed that deleting the files in /tmp/.ICE-
unix/ on a funky resume allowed me start apps but not to immediately
reopen the logout menu.
