Ah, sorry to spam, but I was too quick. It seems that either the bug
isn't as frequent on kubuntu side, or the last update broke things with
kubuntu as well. I get this exact same behavior on kubuntu without gnome
installed at all.

Same problem with Gutsy and intel 965 motherboard w/ integrated
graphics. Have both gnome and kde installed on an originally ubuntu
system.
