If I choose Edit -> Profile Preferences -> untick "Show menubar by default in
new terminals" -> Close
The menubar will disappear from the current terminal, but if I close it and
reopen a new terminal, it will appear again.
So somehow this change in the profile is not reflect

When I try to copy data from my laptop to an Archos 5 IT, I mount it via
nautilus, and every file I copy seems to get uploaded into memory. After
2-3 300MB files, the system runs out of memory and becomes unresponsive.

yes, it still happens in jaunty, using LiveCD. It's nautilus that is a

I download 2 images from the web into my Desktop. I open a web browser that
occupies most of the desktop space but where the images are, then
double-click on the first of them, eog stays on top of the browser,

Tried /tmp/evil.txt with version 2.24.2-0ubuntu1, it will not open the
attachment by default, which is good, but if one tries to visualise the
file, it will choke for a while due to the RAM requirements. Once
digested, evolution won't crash but will be slow due to the swapping.

This also happens to me with exactly the same symptoms: slowly dimming,
unresponsive function controls, then brighten again on it's own without
any sort of user input or after a delay of a few seconds. This is on
different hardware: a Sony Vaio SZ1XP laptop.

It also happens to me on Ubuntu Intrepid. I am using the auto-login
option, which has shown to be problematic in past versions of Ubuntu. If
I log-out and login again, I sometimes see 2 gnome-power-manager applets
in the upper right-hand side panel.

I click on the invest applet tab, and that makes the keyboard state to
switch (I have 2 states defined in it). When I click again on the
invest tab, it changes the state of the keyboard indicator again...

This only happens the first type one clicks on it. If you right click
on the right space, and refresh it, then the second time you click on
the tab to expand the window, it works.
Maybe it's a feature but it looks a bit inconsistent.

these all happen to be at the right of the right-most separator in the
upper notification area. the volume-applet and the network monitor,
which are besides these, don't have this problem otherwise.

To give a bit more of information: if I disable the POP accounts and
only use my IMAP account, then everything works fine. The problem seems
to arise when browsing through folders and subfolders in the local
Inbox, and trying to send emails from a POP account.

strictly standard login. I even tried with a standard gdm.conf
configuration. There just seems to be something preventing the gdm login
to recognize the passwords.

After automatically updating the gnome-related packages available at
13-16 Jun 2006, I have serious problems with gnome:
When I try to login with gdm, the automatic login asks for my password,
and when I enter it, it says is incorrect. Then the gdm menu appears,

This seems to be a deeper problem, because when running the startx session for
a while, the gnome-panel chashed, and I basically got all the gnome- related
stuff blocked...
