I have a kinda old laptop. Just installed Ubuntu 10.10 Mavericks but I come
across some problems. Most inportantly is the brightness control problem. My
laptop has 8 levels adjustment settings. But only 4 levels

Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung notebook.
My Function Keys (Fn) that manage the brightness level are bios-controlled,
because they work before Linux boot (in grub and in bios for example).
The problem is that they don't work after the boot. The only way to change the
screen brightness is

Brightness control not working with FN +F7(BRTN UP) FN+F8(BRTN DOWN).
Tried different versions not working as well. I think this is a bug. And
run into tty1 tried to get the two keycode but return nothing.

I cannot change my brightness with the FN+F7 FN+F8 keystrokes on my laptop when
using Ubuntu. My F8 key is brightness up F7 key is brightness down. I tried xev
in terminal and type the FN+F7 FN+F8 nothing returns. I also get into tt
I`m using GL960+ICH8 based computer. And in Everest on Windows platform
it show my keyboard is JP keyboard. But I tried JP keyboard in Ubuntu
and some special keys didn`t output in the screen. Any idea? If you need
more info to fix this bug pls let me know.
