It looks like upstream gnome-shell doesn't support accent colours on the
dots(?). So while that could be improved for high contrast mode, it
seems like most of the problem here might be in Ubuntu's custom gnome-
shell patches.

Ubuntu due to this, unless `--no-bwrap` flag is used. Same as Steam, it
uses Steam Runtime which in turn rely on bwrap.

Randomly Gnome Shell crashes when I quit a memory heavy program.
It is now stressful to close a program and risk having every other
programs in the session shutdown as well with the Gnome Session because
the Gnome Shell was taken down on cascade of crashes.

Thanks. Those crash reports are from 1-2 years ago so don't look
relevant.
journal.txt seems to show the problem. The system ran out of memory at
Aug 18 10:08:14 but gnome-shell kept running. It was then told to shut
down cleanly by systemd and you can see the clean shutdown a few seconds
later at
