chi, i've just upgraded from LTS to 23.04 and (with virtually no extra
packages installed), and now i get the same error
ie: the upgrader thinking i need ppa-purge,
while apt.log:

problem ;)

Might I add, I experience the same issue. My machine is a Lenovo Yoga 7 14ARP8,
which is a 2-in-1 convertible. Issue was not present before I upgraded to 23.10

Whenever I go beyond 50% brightness it freezes with:
The offending signal was notify on Gjs_status_backlight_SliderItem

Same happens when booting if the value is above 50%.

because it looks like the volume of events is the issue.
