I don't know why exactly, but I t seems to work again after I installed
telepathy-salut_0.8.1-5ubuntu1_amd64.deb from xenial. This package does
not exist in 20.04?

I would suggest that you open a terminal window and run:

Finally relogin or reboot, and hopefully you'll notice an improvement.

Meanwhile, I have reinstalled. I have done nothing else except enable
this email address and add "Russian" in my language settings.
Clicking the + sign no longer crashes the GUI, but opens "Add an input

No, to verify a change to a particular package it's advisable to only
update the binaries of that package.
But what you did may possibly help us identify some other issue. ;)

I think I should reinstall Hirsute. Takes less than 30 minutes.

Just to add another voice to the crowd, I'm on Xubuntu 20.04 and I just
ran across this problem myself.
I am using the Nemo file browser, but the same thing occurs with
Nautilus and Thunar. I didn't notice the problem for a long while
because I had three legacy Windows machines on the network (al

Now that I think I finally found out how to send the /var/crash report,
I'm no longer getting a report when I run gnome-control-center from

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but
yes, use ubuntu-bug on it and it should create a report then share the

It does indeed!
I wonder why this was not installed automatically.
Also, the title bars of Firefox , Thunderbird and Slack (Electron
Desktop) are white when using the "Standard" colors, but text editor,
control center + terminal have dark title bars. But this is probably a
different issue.
