For years I've installed a bitmap font for my terminals, but since I
upgraded to Focal (development branch) today, it (and other bitmap
fonts) no longer work.
The font is 'Dina', from here:

I was able to trigger this again with a sizeable Firefox webpage. This
time I was able to CTRL+ALT+F4 to a different VT and even enter my
username but was not able to login. I had to Hard Boot to recover the
system.

Sorry, I meant 19.10 in my last comment, not 19.04.
When I use the evdi module and library shipped with Ubuntu in 20.04,
then DisplayLink works in Xorg, but it's very glitchy, with cursor
artifacts showing up constantly all over the place on all screens, both
DisplayLink and non-DisplayLink.

the version of the evdi kernel module and library shipped with Ubuntu
are newer than the version shipped with the installer available on

In my case, the error was caused by a full /home filesystem.
I switched to a text terminal (Ctrl Alt F1-7) deleted some files, and after
rebooting, it was working.
