Thanks. I can't find any usable info in that log right now, other than
it was only yesterday that you deleted /var/crash/* so best to just wait
for the next crash file from gnome-shell. Then follow comment #5 again.

You can't tell, if it's working properly. You also can't disable it
because a software cursor is only used when the hardware cursor doesn't
work. The only other alternative would be no mouse pointer at all :)

4. had to repeat login for 10-20 times before gnome actually opened the desktop

This happens on the latest Ubuntu Focal clean installation. When opening
the list of installed apps in Shell Overview, the "Utilities" folder in
Shell Overview is missing (and all apps that should be in the folder are
displayed in the main list) until Ubuntu Software is opened
It seems that not only the Snap apps are matched incorrectly or not
found when clicking "Show Details". For example showing details for the
preinstalled "TeXInfo" app opens page for a "System Info" from Cinnamon
and when clicking a "Source" drop-down list in header of the page, there
is around ~30
This is how all the preinstalled apps look like on a clean, minimal
Ubuntu 20.04 installation.
