This still seems to happen in Ubuntu 18.04.3. Is this an upstream
issue? Maybe get rid of the "Save current settings as default" menu
item if it does nothing?

Hi, i'm running Ubuntu 19.10 on a Thinkpad L530 with automatic login
enabled. I hadn't made any changes to my computer's settings but when I
powered the laptop on today, I ended up with the login loop in gdm3.
What I did was switch to a new terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F2, log in there,
update apt, insta
